About
The man in the fire
In the stunt industry since 2012. Trained as an actor first, then in stage combat, then in stunts across Ireland and Europe — and now specialising in fire.
John started out acting — first at the Irish Academy of Dramatic Arts, then at The Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin. That performance grounding is still the thing that shapes his stunt work: action only lands when it tells the story the scene needs.
Stage combat came next, training with the IDCA in Dublin across unarmed and weapon disciplines. From there he moved into stunts, training in Ireland before travelling through Europe — the UK, Denmark and France — to train with different teams and different approaches.
Fire became the speciality. Today John performs full body burns, coordinates fire for productions, and teaches fire stunt work to other performers. He holds a Guinness World Record for coordinating the most backwards somersaults on fire in 30 seconds — seven, on a full body burn.
He has doubled Nick Frost, Dan Fogler and Rasmus Bjerg, and worked across the Vikings universe, The Last Duel, Cocaine Bear, The Wonder and Into the Badlands.
